POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief People & CultureOfficer, the Human Resources Generalist advises leadership on operational HumanResources related issues. This position is responsible for the day-to-dayrequirements of all components of Human Resources including recruitment andselection, employee and labour relations, compliance, policy administration,performance management, disability management and training. The incumbentprovides comprehensive full-cycle Human Resource support to employees andmanagement.

POSITION SCOPE/IMPACT OF ERROR

As a Human Resources Generalist, precision, accuracy and well-developed judgment skills are important to thesuccess of the organization’s operations. It is imperative to mitigate riskwhen it comes to data entry, documentation, compliance to legal regulations,laws and guidelines, confidentiality, data security and implementation ofpolicies and collective bargaining agreements internally.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide coaching andcounseling to address issues related to HR challenges, employmentstandards and labour relations;
• Support management andstaff through all phases of the performance management cycle;
• Work with program areasand managers to develop new positions and position descriptions to meetprogram and organizational needs;
• Coordinates andimplements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys tosupport the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
• Identifies staffing andrecruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring andtalent management.
• Full-cycle recruitmentand retention initiatives;
• Maintain HRIS system, trackers and other reportsas needed;
• Conducts research andanalysis of organizational trends and creates reports including metricsfrom the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talentmanagement system for review by the Director and leadership team.
• Participate in theimplementation of the Organizational and HR operating plans, goals andobjectives;
• Actively participate inHuman Resources initiatives and projects as time and resourcespermit;
• Maintains knowledge oftrends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in humanresources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledgeand communicates changes in policy, practice, and resources to the ChiefPeople & Culture Officer.
• Develop and facilitate trainingto leadership and employees.

Other duties asrelated to the position and as reasonably assigned by the Chief People &Culture Officer, or as circumstances dictate, all within the context of TheLink’s Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Post-secondaryeducation in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fieldrequired.
• CPHRDesignation is an asset.

Experience

• 3to 5 years of experience in a Human Resources environment performing abroad range of Human Resources functions.
• Experienceworking within a unionized environment is an asset.
• Experiencewithin non-profit sector, specifically in a youth servingorganization.
• Experiencein deploying and administering HR programs, policies,practicesandprocesses.
• Experiencein influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders andleaders across the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• In-depthknowledge of human resources operations and best practices; knowledge ofemployment standards, human rights legislation, and collectiveagreements;
• Abilityto balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining akeen sense of accuracy and attention to detail;
• Stronginterpersonal and communication skills, with ability to professionallycommunicate both verbally and in writing with employees and externalpartners;
• Abilityto maintain highly sensitive and confidential information;
• Functions effectively as a team member, demonstrating emotional intelligence andobjectivity when dealing with challenging/changing workenvironments;
• Processfacilitation and project management skills and experience.
• Demonstratedunderstanding of, and respect for, the histories, traditions and culturesof Indigenous people, commitment to reconciliation and the TRC’s Calls toAction, and the ability to promote these values in the communities TheLink serves.
