The Link: Youth and Family Supports in Manitoba is seeking a Team Leader to assist the Transition Services Supervisor in daily operations and program development. You will work with staff to support youth and families using an open-minded, trauma-informed approach that promotes growth and inclusion.

Lead staffing, onboarding, scheduling, and program coordination while upholding The Link’s mission, values, and Indigenous knowledge frameworks.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or combination of education, work experience and lived experience considered.

• Conducts staff orientation and coordinates information distribution.
• Schedules meetings and performs program-related purchasing.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Team Leader will assist the Transition Services Supervisor in both the daily operation and development of the program. They will work collaboratively with other team members, supervisors, and other Programs, etc. to participate within an open-minded, strengths based, trauma informed, relational child and youth care approach framework that promotes the cultivation and mobilization of youth strengths, potential and capacity for growth. They will provide programming inclusive to all youth and practice a policy of open-mindedness and inclusion regarding culture and ceremony for youth and their care providers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties are varied, following established serviceplan, procedures and policies with some judgement required to determine the most appropriate of a limited number of alternatives. Non-routine or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor. A actions could result in inadequate services that could have a negative impact on The Link, to employees, customers, youth and communities. Misconduct could result in major loss of time or resources, could cause embarrassment within the organization and have a negative impact on the organization, to customers, communities and/or its public image.

• Provides coverage for the Transition Services Supervisor during scheduled absences fulfilling all responsibilities of the Supervisor
• Completes administrative duties, as assigned by the Supervisor; these duties may include
• Assisting with interviewing and hiring of Youth Care Practitioners
• Scheduling, coordinating and training casual Youth Care Practitioners
• Orientation for new staff
• Coordinating the distribution of information to the team
• Scheduling meetings
• Performing financial and purchasing responsibilities, such as replenishing program supplies
• Ongoing mentorship to Youth Care Practitioners
• Participates in on-going professional development to increase knowledge in the field and increase skill level to continue meeting developing employment needs
• Participate in meetings as required and promote positive teamwork and exhibit a high degree of positive role modelling for young people
• Supports the program to reflect The Link treatment philosophy, organizational and Human Resource policies and program protocols including representing the program and the organization in a professional manner
• Demonstrate a good understanding of the Child and Family Services system in Manitoba, particularly in the context of Indigenous communities and the impacts of inter-generational and historical trauma
• Knowledge, awareness and respect of Indigenous cultures, languages, traditions, and practices
• Create or support an environment of collaboration while still contributing and sharing credit freely with the team
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; Ability to adapt to changing circumstances or conditions with flexibility and compassion
• The ability to reflect or seek guidance to ensure support given is representative of the organization’s mission and values

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post-secondary education or a combination of education, work experience and lived experience may be considered
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous People and the importance of the Seven Sacred Teachings in our day-to-day approach at The Link: Youth and Family Supports
• Supervision, Training and Engaging our staff
• Working under pressure with tight deadlines
• Being open to new ways of thinking and ideas
• Experience working with vulnerable youth
• Have read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action and can communicate the calls relating to Media and Reconciliation
• Knowledge of trauma and resilience informed care
• Strong relationship building skills and experience in de-escalation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months
• ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) preferred
• De-escalation training preferred
• Mental Health First Aid & Safe Talk will be considered an asset
• Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset

SALARY: $19.51-26.01 per hour depending on qualifications, including benefits, pension, paid sick leave, northern allowance, vacation and personal days.

HOURS OF WORK: Varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
