Job summary

The Link: Youth and Family Supports is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide full-cycle HR support, advise leadership on HR issues, and manage recruitment, relations, policy administration, performance management and training at our Winnipeg location.

Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer, you will help ensure compliance with employment standards and labor laws, while maintaining confidentiality and data accuracy across HRIS and reporting processes.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• CPHR Designation is an asset.
• Experience in a nonprofit youth-serving environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and counseling to address HR challenges, employment standards and labour relations.
• Support management and staff through all phases of the performance management cycle.
• Develop new positions and position descriptions to meet program and organizational needs.
• Coordinates policies, processes, training and surveys to support HR compliance and strategy needs.

• Full-cycle recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Maintain HRIS system, trackers and other reports.
• Produce reports with HR metrics for leadership review.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer, the Human Resources Generalist advises leadership on operational Human Resources related issues. This position is responsible for the day-to-day requirements of all components of Human Resources including recruitment and selection, employee and labour relations, compliance, policy administration, performance management, disability management and training. The incumbent provides comprehensive full-cycle Human Resource support to employees and management.

POSITION SCOPE/IMPACT OF ERROR

As a Human Resources Generalist, precision, accuracy and well-developed judgment skills are important to the success of the organization’s operations. It is imperative to mitigate risk when it comes to data entry, documentation, compliance to legal regulations, laws and guidelines, confidentiality, data security and implementation of policies and collective bargaining agreements internally.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and counseling to address issues related to HR challenges, employment standards and labour relations;
• Support management and staff through all phases of the performance management cycle;
• Work with program areas and managers to develop new positions and position descriptions to meet program and organizational needs;
• Coordinates and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
• Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
• Full-cycle recruitment and retention initiatives;
• Maintain HRIS system, trackers and other reports as needed;
• Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends and creates reports including metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system for review by the Director and leadership team.
• Participate in the implementation of the Organizational and HR operating plans, goals and objectives;
• Actively participate in Human Resources initiatives and projects as time and resources permit;
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge and communicates changes in policy, practice, and resources to the Chief People & Culture Officer.
• Develop and facilitate training to leadership and employees.

Other duties as related to the position and as reasonably assigned by the Chief People & Culture Officer, or as circumstances dictate, all within the context of The Link’s Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles.

Qualifications

Education

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• CPHR Designation is an asset.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a Human Resources environment performing a broad range of Human Resources functions.
• Experience working within a unionized environment is an asset.
• Experience within non-profit sector, specifically in a youth serving organization.
• Experience in deploying and administering HR programs, policies,practicesand processes.
• Experience in influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and leaders across the organization.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of human resources operations and best practices; knowledge of employment standards, human rights legislation, and collective agreements;
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing with employees and external partners;
• Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information;
• Functions effectively as a team member, demonstrating emotional intelligence and objectivity when dealing with challenging/changing work environments;
• Process facilitation and project management skills and experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, the histories, traditions and cultures of Indigenous people, commitment to reconciliation and the TRC's Calls to Action, and the ability to promote these values in the communities The Link serves.
