Job summary

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a values-driven organization in the Broader Public Sector to recruit a Human Resources Business Partner for a 3-month contract. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, you will act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, delivering strategic insight and hands-on HR support in a collaborative team of five HR Business Partners.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR advisory or business partner responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working in both unionized and non-unionized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements, and policy interpretation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels.
  • CPRH designation or progress toward certification is considered an asset (if applicable).
  • Experience working with or supporting First Nations, Inuit, or Métis communities is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical guidance to managers and employees on employee relations, collective agreements, and HR policies.
  • Lead workplace investigations, manage employee complaints, and support conflict resolution processes.
  • Advise leaders on the interpretation and application of collective agreements and employment legislation.
  • Coach managers on performance management, attendance issues, and respectful workplace practices.
  • Oversee return-to-work, attendance management, and accommodation processes in collaboration with internal partners.
  • Partner with leaders and HR colleagues to support recruitment, onboarding, and engagement initiatives.

About the Opportunity
