Job summary

TEEMA seeks an experienced Human Resources Business Partner in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to partner with operations leadership on workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness. You will drive leadership development, performance management, and strategic labor relations in a large industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and interpreting collective agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards, human rights, and labour legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 + Annual Bonus (16-20 percent)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to support a large industrial manufacturing operation in Thunder Bay. This is a high-impact role for an HR professional who enjoys partnering closely with operations leaders, solving complex workforce challenges, and helping build a safe, accountable, and high-performing organization.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will translate business priorities into practical people strategies across workforce planning, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and performance management.

What You’ll Do

Partner with operational leaders on workforce planning, succession, organizational design, and leadership development.

Advise leaders on complex employee and organizational matters.

Analyze absenteeism, turnover, productivity, and workforce trends and implement improvement strategies.

Strengthen performance management, accountability, and employee development practices.

Support labour relations in a unionized environment, including investigations, discipline, grievances, and collective agreement interpretation.

Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, labour legislation, and company policies.

Support employee engagement, communication, recognition, and workplace culture initiatives.

Use workforce data to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.

What You Bring

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.

3+ years of progressive HR experience in industrial manufacturing.

Experience working in a unionized environment and interpreting collective agreements.

Strong knowledge of employment standards, human rights, and labour legislation.

Excellent communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Strong Microsoft Office skills; experience using AI productivity tools is an asset.
