Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.

Job Purpose

The Manager of Human Resources provides leadership, guidance, and oversight for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible for supporting managers and employees, administering HR policies and procedures, overseeing recruitment and employee relations processes, maintaining confidential employee records, supporting performance management and workplace investigations, and ensuring HR practices are fair, consistent, compliant, and aligned with Maskekosihk values, policies, and procedures.

Education, Experience and Requirements
  • Completion of Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
  • Must provide a clear criminal record check and any other required screening as determined by the employer.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources practices, employee relations, recruitment, policy administration, performance management, and workplace documentation.
  • Strong understanding of applicable employment legislation, human rights, privacy, occupational health and safety, and HR compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, letters, recommendations, and employee-facing communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with diplomacy, sound judgment, fairness, and professionalism.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, HRIS systems, and electronic records management.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, or a related field. A combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive human resources experience, including experience supporting employee relations, recruitment, policy interpretation, and workplace documentation.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory, leadership, or team lead experience is preferred.
  • CHRP, CPHR, CIHRP, or related HR designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous governments, First Nation organizations, or community-based service environments is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
  • The Manager of Human Resources is required to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during regular business hours. Extended hours, evening, weekend, or on-call work may be required based on operational needs.
  • The work location will be the Enoch Cree Nation Band Office/Human Resources Department. Travel may be required from time to time.
  • Physical requirements include regular sitting, standing, walking, computer work, attending meetings, and lifting or carrying office materials as required.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
  • Must sign and adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon being hired.
  • Must adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy and Procedure Manual and all applicable workplace policies.
