Job summary

Neegan Development is seeking a positive, outgoing HSE Coordinator to support safety excellence on our Fort McMurray sites. You will lead compliance with OH&S legislation and company policies, working closely with management and field staff to balance field safety with administrative tasks.

You will conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and drive improvements while maintaining strong relationships with employees and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • NCSO certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HSE role.
  • Experience in heavy equipment or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of site-specific safety policies, procedures, and OH&S requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of local, provincial, and federal regulations, guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the HSE program and reduce incidents.
  • Assist management with the development and implementation of practical workplace inspection programs.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and audits to assess compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

Job description

Neegan Development is currently seeking a positive, outgoing, and team-oriented individual to join our team as an HSE Coordinator.

The HSE Coordinator will play an important role in supporting the company’s commitment to safety excellence. This position will provide leadership and support to management and employees while ensuring compliance with company policies, site-specific requirements, and applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in the field, building strong relationships with employees and supervisors, and balancing field safety requirements with the administrative responsibilities of the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to all company Health, Safety & Environmental standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable local, provincial, and federal legislation, regulations, and guidelines
  • Identify opportunities to improve the HSE program and reduce workplace incidents
  • Assist management with the development and implementation of practical and effective workplace inspection programs
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and audits to assess the effectiveness and compliance of inspection programs
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Receive, review, and promptly follow up on all near misses and FLRAs
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to management, supervisors, and employees regarding HSE matters
  • Ensure compliance with company and site-specific safety rules, regulations, and requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of OH&S legislation, standards, codes of practice, and industry best practices
  • Review incident and safety reports to monitor company and project safety performance
  • Analyze safety statistics and trends to identify patterns, hazards, and opportunities for improvement
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization
  • Maintain a visible and consistent field presence while ensuring administrative requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Represent Neegan Development and the Group of Companies in a professional manner
  • Support the organization’s overall HSE objectives and initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
  • NCSO certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HSE role
  • Experience working in the heavy equipment or construction industry
  • Knowledge of site-specific safety policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze safety statistics, identify trends and hazards, and develop effective corrective actions
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team
