Job summary

A recognized energy services company in Calgary is seeking an HSE Advisor to plan and develop health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education, experience in HSE, and relevant certifications. This role offers competitive pay and benefits along with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of related HSE experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification required.
  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred.
  • Valid class 5 license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and evaluate health & safety policies.
  • Design and implement safety standards.
  • Provide guidance and training on health & safety.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on safety issues.
  • Provide field personnel with safety briefings and guidance.
  • Direct and review analysis of accident and injury data to identify needs for new or modified safety programs.
  • Work with leadership on the development, implementation and management of the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Provide program training to HSE and management teams to ensure policies are understood and integrated.
  • Suggest improvements in tracking and reporting of metrics.
  • Produce and communicate health and safety reports regularly.

HSE Advisor, Program Development – CDN – Calgary, Alberta

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement. We are looking to hire an HSE Advisor, Program Development based out of our Downtown Calgary office.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate health & safety policies and programs.
  • Design safety standards to conform to industry standards and federal, provincial and local regulations.
  • Update the Health & Safety Management System in relation to updated legislation.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
  • Provide guidance to field personnel via safety briefings.
  • Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs.
  • Work in conjunction with leadership on the development, implementation and management of the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Provide program training to HSE team and management teams to ensure the acceptance and compliance of health and safety policies and procedures are understood and are integrated throughout the organization.
  • Suggest improvements in tracking and reporting of metrics.
  • Produce and communicate health and safety reports on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma and typically 3-5 years of related HSE experience, or combination of formal education and experience
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required
  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is preferred
  • Valid class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and safety best practices
  • Understanding of current Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Bulletins and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations.
  • Attentive to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize projects and daily tasks
  • Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Suite and Power Apps.
