Job summary

Caron Equipment is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our team in Northern Ontario. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and improving safety and environmental programs across construction and mining operations.

You will work closely with employees, supervisors, project management, and the HSE team to ensure operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with legislation and client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in health and safety, preferably in construction, mining, or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legislation (OHSA, WSIB, environmental standards, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and reporting abilities with proficiency in MS Office and HSE management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to various job sites as required.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support Caron Equipment’s health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Serve as a visible safety resource for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Conduct regular workplace and site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
  • Identify potential hazards and work with operational leaders to implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support supervisors and employees in completing Job Hazard Assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments, inspections, and other required safety documentation.
  • Participate in incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations and assist with determining root causes and corrective actions.
  • Monitor corrective actions and follow up to ensure identified safety concerns are addressed.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and review of safe work procedures, policies, and HSE programs.
  • Support employee orientations, safety meetings, toolbox talks, training, and ongoing safety awareness initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors regarding safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, inspection documentation, training records, and other required safety documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, client standards, and company requirements.
  • Assist with workplace injury management, reporting, documentation, and return-to-work processes as required.
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee activities where applicable.
  • Support environmental compliance initiatives and reporting requirements.
  • Track and report safety performance, trends, incidents, observations, and key HSE metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, supervisors, employees, clients, and contractors to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Participate in HSE meetings and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a professional and visible presence in the field and actively engage employees in safety discussions.
  • Perform other HSE-related duties as required to support Caron Equipment’s operations.

Caron Equipment is seeking a dedicated and motivated Health,Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our growing team.


The HSE Coordinator plays an important role in supportingthe development, implementation, and continuous improvement of CaronEquipment’s health, safety, and environmental programs. Working closely withemployees, supervisors, project management, and the HSE team, this positionhelps ensure our operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and incompliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicablelegislation.


This role is ideal for a safety professional who enjoysbeing actively involved in operations, building strong relationships withemployees, and promoting a positive and proactive safety culture acrossconstruction and mining environments.


Key Responsibilities:
