Job summary

Mitel is seeking a proactive HR Specialist to support the Americas region from Ottawa. You will handle frontline HR inquiries, maintain HRIS data in Workday, and assist with onboarding and policy guidance.

The role requires 2–3 years in HR, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work remotely with high attention to detail. A competitive CAD salary with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or high school diploma + relevant experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years minimum HR specialist level experience required.
  • Strong Excel proficiency including VLOOKUP and pivot tables required; Macro experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line HR support to managers and employees in the Americas region.
  • Manage employee data in HRIS (Workday).
  • Support leave of absence processes and communications.
  • Answer questions about personnel policies and procedures.
  • Compile confidential personnel statistics and prepare HR activity reports.
  • Organize and maintain e-files and records.
  • Assist the TA team with onboarding documentation for new hires.
  • Make recommendations for HR process improvements.
  • General vendor management and special projects as needed.

Overview

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, organized self-starter to join our HR-People & Culture Team to support the Americas region. This position is critical in providing great HR support and creating a positive employee experience.

The ideal candidate is self-driven with strong organizational skills, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Candidates with a strong sense of accountability and a desire to learn are encouraged to apply.

Preference to candidates the Ottawa area.

Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line support to managers and employees in the Americas (US and Canada) region; respond to internal and external customers promptly.
  • Manages employee data in HRIS system (Workday)
  • Supports leave of absence processes including documentation and employee and vendor communications
  • Answer questions about company personnel policies and procedures
  • Compiling sensitive and confidential personnel statistics and preparing reports related to documenting human resources activities such as new-hire, change-of-status, performance evaluations, benefits, terminations, COBRA, OSHA, EEOC/AAP using HRIS.
  • Organize and maintain e-files and records.
  • Assist the TA team to ensure timely and proper completion of onboarding documentation for new hires.
  • Make and implement recommendations for HR process improvements
  • General vendor management
  • Special projects as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or high school diploma + relevant experience preferred
  • 2-3 years minimum Human Resources specialist level experience required.
  • Strong Excel proficiency including VLOOKUP and pivot tables required; Macro experience desired.
  • Word proficiency including mail merges
  • Previous experience with HRIS; experience with Workday preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employment law in US and Canada preferred.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Detail oriented, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, accuracy is essential, outstanding follow-through and attention to detail
  • Ability to work remotely and autonomously to meet required deadlines and accountabilities.

Salary range: CAD $55,000-$62,000
