Job summary

St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton is seeking an HR and Recruitment Coordinator to support the People, Culture & Diversity department. You will handle onboarding, benefit administration, and HRIS activities for a large employee population.

The role advises employees, managers and leaders while ensuring compliance with Employment Standards Act, collective agreements and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Two-year college diploma in HRM, business administration or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in HRM, Social Sciences or Business Management.
• 3–5 years HR experience in recruitment and benefits in a unionized environment.
• Proficiency in HRIS and payroll environments.
• Aptitude for learning Workday, Parklane and pension/benefit carriers.
• Experience in career fairs and campus recruitment events.
• Strong knowledge of union collective agreements and applicable law.
• Discretion with confidential information and professional conduct.
• Detail-oriented with efficiency in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness and Respect.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and implement onboarding documentation for new hires via HR processes.
• Determine entitlements and apply seniority, pay, vacation and benefit impacts via collective agreements.
• Process internal transfers and coordinate with payroll.
• Enter new hire data into HRIS (Workday) and manage accounts and pay codes.
• Create candidate profiles and post internal job openings in ATS.
• Plan and manage postings for vacancies and closings.
• Support full-cycle recruitment including screening, interviewing and reference checks.
• Assist with benefit enrollment and communications to employees.
• Handle inquiries via phone, email and in-person with professionalism.
