Job summary

The First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to support First Nations governance and HR practices. This role emphasizes partnership, policy development, and HR operations across Indigenous communities in Canada.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in Human Resources; leadership experience is an asset.
• Fluent in English and French (spoken and written).
• Experience with HRIS and HR programs/tools.
• Knowledge of employment legislation and workplace policies.
• Experience serving First Nations or Indigenous communities is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with First Nations clients to implement FALs and prep for FMS certification.
• Meet with clients to assess HR needs and training priorities.
• Provide guidance, tools, and practical HR support.
• Develop HR support plans aligned with client goals.
• Support performance management, employee development, and succession planning.
• Create/update job descriptions and assist with role changes.
• Establish processes for HR records management and protection.
• Develop HR templates and forms, work plans, and performance tools.
• Deliver HR training on practices, job design, and recordkeeping.
• Maintain documentation, collaborate to improve services, and support projects.
