Job summary

The Guild in Calgary, part of Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality, seeks a full-time Host to welcome guests, manage reservations, and uphold a welcoming front-of-house. You will work closely with the FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth seating and guest flow in a vibrant setting.

Preference given to candidates with OpenTable experience and Smart Serve certification. Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to support our dynamic dining schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a host or guest-facing hospitality role.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Calm under pressure with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
• OpenTable experience preferred.
• Smart Serve Certification required.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests warmly and professionally.
• Manage reservations and walk-ins with OpenTable.
• Coordinate with FOH and BOH to optimize guest flow.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the host stand and entrance.
• Answer guest inquiries and accommodate special requests.
• Assist with bussing tables and running food/beverages as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Front of House Management Team, our Hosts create a positive guest experience that begins with a proper greeting. They maintain an efficient and organized restaurant through managing guest flow, maximizing seating capacity and communicating with all employees. Hosts leave a lasting impression with all guests through their professionalism and attention to detail.

The day to day:

• Greet and seat guests in a warm, professional, and timely manner
• Manage reservation and walk-in traffic using Open Table
• Monitor table rotation and coordinate with Front Of House and Back Of House teams to optimize guest flow
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the host stand and entrance area
• Answer guest inquiries and assist with special requests, wait times, or accommodations
• Support the overall guest experience with a friendly and attentive approach
• Assist with bussing tables and support the team by running food and beverages as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a host or in a guest-facing hospitality role is an asset
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Calm under pressure, with a proactive and team-oriented mindset
• Comfortable using reservation and table management systems (OpenTable) - preferred
• A passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences
• Valid Smart Serve Certification Required
• Available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• This is a full time position
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
