Job summary

Shared Health seeks Qualified Persons Security Personnel (QPSP) to support a safe hospital environment at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Responsibilities include de-escalation, protecting patients and staff, and assisting with custody as needed under the Mental Health Act.

Requires completion of QPSP training and annual retraining, with designation maintained. Training on Violence Prevention, Emergency Mental Health First Aid, and use of force will be provided.

Qualifications

• QPSP Training Program and annual retraining are required.
• Be designated as a QPSP under the Mental Health Act.
• Indigenous language knowledge and cultural safety training are assets.

Responsibilities

• Support a safe and secure healthcare environment, especially in emergency/urgent care areas.
• De-escalate situations and protect patients and staff.
• Assist with custody of individuals when necessary and comply with applicable laws.
