Job summary

Stong’s Market in Vancouver’s North Shore is seeking a Food Service Worker to join our team. You will prepare meals for hot and cold items, assist with food preparation, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly in a retail setting.

You will work with Chefs and staff to ensure dishes are prepared correctly, adhere to food safety standards, and maintain a clean, organized workspace. The role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays in a busy store environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Hot and cold food preparation, including sandwiches and salads.
• Rinse, peel, slice, and dice vegetables as needed.

• Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
• Follow established recipes and serving temperatures.
• Provide information about ingredients, availability, and pricing.
• Keep the store and kitchen safe and tidy.

Job description

We are looking for a Food Service Worker to join our team.This role is responsible to prepare meals toserve our customers and perform food preparation duties, including hot itemsfor breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and as well as grab-and-go items.They will also focus on a wide range of tasksthat keep the kitchen running smoothly, from cleaning up after cooking toadhering to food safety regulations.

Ultimately, this role will work our kitchen with other Chefsand food specialists to ensure dishes are prepared correctly and processes arefollowed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Hot and cold food preparation, includingsandwiches, chickens, salads, soups and specialty trays
• Performpreparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing vegetables
• Weighand measure ingredients
• Wrap,date-label, and store food items
• Cleanand organize work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station
• Followestablished recipes to prepare menu items
• Followguidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control
• Provide customerswith information regarding food ingredients, availability and pricing
• Ensure the store is clean, safe and ready for shoppers
• Rotation,loading and unloading of kitchen ingredients
• Stock and replace products to avoid any damages
• Keep shelves fully stocked with fresh products
• Backroomand inventory management
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand during scheduled shift,withstand repetitive walking, reaching, and bending for long periods of time
• Comfortable using commercial power equipment,including slicers and ovens
• Comfortable working in a hot or cold environment(kitchen, coolers and freezers)
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
