Job summary

City of Richmond seeks reliable staff to perform cleaning and light maintenance across multiple heritage venues, including Britannia Shipyards and London Farmhouse. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, event setup, and coordination with external contractors as needed.

The role requires knowledge of janitorial practices, strong written and oral communication, and the ability to work independently, outdoors in various weather conditions, and during peak festival periods.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, tools and equipment used in janitorial work.
• Knowledge of routine building and equipment maintenance, and minor repair tasks.
• Knowledge of janitorial workplace hazards and safe practices.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Clean heritage facilities including offices, storage, kitchens, washrooms, and common areas.
• Ensure facilities are clean and safe for public and staff use; sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and wipe surfaces.
• Empty interior garbage and recycling bins.
• Set up/down program and rental equipment for events; provide site access as needed.
• Assist with site maintenance and pest control in consultation with supervisor.
• Complete daily/weekly checklists and report maintenance issues.
