Cooper Equipment Rentals in Airdrie, AB is hiring a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician to inspect, service and repair a diverse fleet of heavy machinery on site. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs and maintain thorough service records, contributing to safe, reliable equipment for our customers.

Ideal candidates have a Red Seal or Journeyperson license (or be in year 3 of an apprenticeship), own tools, a valid Class 5/G license, and willingness to work overtime.

Qualifications

• Must have a Red Seal / Journeyperson license (or be a minimum 3rd year apprentice).
• Experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
• Valid Class 5/G driver’s license with clean or satisfactory abstract (copy upon request).
• Must have own tools.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
• Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment on shop and jobsites.

What You’ll Be Doing (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact and aerial equipment both in the shop and on customer jobsites.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs, testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements.

What You’ll Bring to the Team (Qualifications and Requirements)

• Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T) or minimum 3rd year apprentice is required.
• Experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
• Valid Class 5/G driver’s license with clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Must have own tools.
• Available and willing to work over-time as needed.
• Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
• Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment.
• Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
