Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals in Sudbury, ON is seeking a customer‑oriented mechanic to inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and test equipment to ensure proper performance.

You will mentor apprentices, document inspections and work orders, and contribute to a safe, efficient shop environment. A strong mechanical background and willingness to work overtime are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years of mechanical experience on construction equipment.
• Diesel and gas engine knowledge and repairs.
• Understanding of hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and computer applications.
• Must supply own tools and be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose malfunctions.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.

You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.Must have own tools.Available and willing to work over-time as needed.Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.Comfortable with computers (for filling out inspections, inventory management, etc.).Physical stamina and ability to stand and bend for long periods of time.
