Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to service diesel-powered generators and pumps in our Brampton shop. You will diagnose, repair and test equipment, with occasional field visits to job sites.

Applicants should have 3+ years in the field, a valid Heavy Equipment Technician license (421A/310T or equivalent), and a complete tool set. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and diesel engines is required, along with a safety-first approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of related mechanical experience.
• Prior experience on pumps and/or generators is an asset.
• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T) or equivalent experience.
• Valid G/5 driver’s license with clean abstract; provide copy if requested.
• Strong knowledge of 12V DC and AC electrical systems and diesel engines.
• Understanding of Tier 4 emissions and diesel pumps is an asset.
• Must have a complete set of tools and be willing to work overtime.
• Proficient with computers and diagnostic software; team and safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair diesel generators and diesel pumps and electric submersible pumps.
• Diagnose malfunctions and verify repairs with testing for proper performance.
• Support field and in-shop repairs on customer sites as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and keep shop/yard clean.
• Provide high level customer service in all interactions.

Prior experience working on pumps and/or generators is a definite asset.* Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T or other relevant trade certificate) or equivalent work experience.* Valid Class G/5 driver’s license required, with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You’ll be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.* Strong electrical knowledge in 12volt dc and ac power systems and components, and thorough knowledge of diesel engines is required.* Understanding of Tier 4 emissions and diesel pumps is an asset.* Must have a complete set of tools.* Available and willing to work over-time as required.* Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.* Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.* Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.* Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.* Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment.* Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology* Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
