Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician for the Brampton onsite shop. You will inspect, service, diagnose, and repair a variety of construction equipment while documenting inspections and maintenance records.

The role requires diesel and gas engine knowledge, hydraulics and electrical systems familiarity, and the ability to work overtime. Join a safety‑driven team with training opportunities and tool allowance.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Valid Class G driver's license with clean abstract (no more than 3 demerit points).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable with computers for inspections and inventory management.
• Willing to work overtime as required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact and aerial equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Mentor apprentices and new hires as needed, providing guidance, training and support.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and safety requirements.
