Job summary

Ontario Shipyards in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a capable Mechanic responsible for preventative maintenance, tune-ups, and troubleshooting diesel, gasoline, and propane powered yard equipment. You will help ensure equipment uptime and safety.

You will troubleshoot snorkel and scissors lifts, bantam and yard cranes, maintain yard trucks, and assist with ship and tugboat mechanical issues. Strong inventory discipline and collaboration with purchasing are valued, and you will contribute to

Qualifications

  • Heavy-D duty Equipment Technician license (421A) preferred.
  • Must be of legal age to work in Ontario and a Canadian citizen.
  • Graduate with Grade Twelve Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety compliance in all work.

  • Maintain all storage areas as required, keeping inventory of stocked items.
  • Document and keep inventory of minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Advise purchasing promptly of any part shortages or supply requests.
  • Work with employees to find out their needs for the day.
  • All other duties requested or assigned.
