Job summary

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment service, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Proficient Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues efficiently.
  • Relevant technical training or apprenticeship in heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial mechanics.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and maintenance software is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and repair documentation.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to PPE and safe lifting practices.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate service vehicles and, where required, lift trucks (appropriate certifications are an asset).

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on lift trucks and related equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on engines, hydraulics, brakes, and drive systems.
  • Inspect equipment for safety and performance and document service work.
  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations to supervisors and customers clearly.
  • Work in the shop and at customer sites, following safety procedures and company policies.
  • Collaborate with service advisors and parts personnel to ensure timely completion of work orders.

Role Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Welland, ON, responsible for maintaining and repairing lift trucks and related heavy equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing scheduled preventative maintenance, and conducting repairs on engines, hydraulics, brakes, and drive systems. The role involves inspecting equipment for safety and performance, documenting all service work, and communicating findings and repair recommendations to supervisors and customers in a clear, professional manner.
