Job summary

Finning Canada in Calgary is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic with field experience to support our expanding operations. You will troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar and other equipment, using SIS and ET daily, and document service reports and warranties.

This permanent, full-time role offers a 7x7 shift, a competitive wage and benefits package, and training opportunities. A company truck is provided, with union environment and pension matching.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson HET certification is required.
• Dual tickets are an asset.
• Field truck experience—minimum 2 years.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Previous Caterpillar experience is an asset.
• Willingness to participate in additional training.
• Self-motivated, computer literate, and safety oriented with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar and other mechanical equipment.
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily.
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes).
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team.
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Lead Hand on various tasks as required.

Job Description:

• Based in Calgary, 7x7 continuous shift

• Tooled company truck supplied

• A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respiratorwhere applicable
