Finning International Inc. is recruiting Heavy Duty Mechanics for the Alberta Mobile Team to support operations across Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

You will diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar equipment at customer sites, with field-based responsibilities and premium shift incentives. The role requires HET certification, 3+ years field truck experience, a valid driver’s license, and a readiness to undertake further CAT training.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification (On-Road & Off Road)
• Dual Tickets are an asset
• 3+ years of Field Truck experience
• Valid driver’s license with a recent clean abstract
• Previous Caterpillar experience is an asset
• Willingness to participate in additional training
• Self-motivated, computer literate, safety oriented with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Field diagnosis and running repairs of Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment in field environments.
• Respond to customer needs in a timely manner to maximize value of work performed.
• Diagnose faults using testing equipment to determine repair scope.
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily.
• Prepare technical documentation (service reports, warranty notes).
• Interact with customers, sales support, and Finning team.

Job Description:

Take on a role where your skills and passion keep equipment moving. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic with the Alberta Mobile Team, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Equipment.

Your work will include:

• Field diagnosis and running repairs of Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment, in field environment (possibility of remote locations)
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team

Qualifications:

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification (On-Road & Off Road)
• Dual Tickets will be an asset
• 3+ years demonstrated experience in a Field Truck
• Valid driver's license with a successful recent driver abstract
• Previous Caterpillar experience is an asset
• Willingness to participate and complete additional training
• Self-motivated, computer literate, and safety orientated with the ability to work under minimal supervision

Important Information:

• This role supports our customers throughout Alberta and NWT
• Shift is 14 x 14 or 7 x 7
• A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, Fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable
