Finning Canada is seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic for field maintenance and repair of Caterpillar engines and equipment in the Grande Prairie area. Journeyperson certification and a valid driver's license are required; safety‑conscious, autonomous, and detail‑oriented candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification is required or in progress.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician.
• Strong safety awareness and teamwork with good organizational skills.
• Understanding of Caterpillar product lines is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment in a field environment.
• Interact with customers, product and sales support, and Finning team.
• Work with supervisor on various tasks and ensure on-site safety compliance.

Major Job Functions

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment in a field environment
• Interact with customers, product and sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Working with the supervisor on various tasks
• Providing support with reference to on‑site safety requirements
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
• Complete technical documentation and reports

Specific Skills & Experience

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
• Completion or be in the process of completing Finning S‑level courses would also be considered an asset

Notes

Availability to occasionally work out of town for a week

Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement. Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
