Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyman Mechanic to troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment at the Jackfish power plant in Yellowknife, NT. You will work under the Service Supervisor and coordinate with customers to ensure service excellence.

The role requires a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification and at least 1 year of Heavy Duty Technician experience, with a strong safety focus and solid verbal/written communication.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician.
  • Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar product line is an asset.
  • Experience with engine/component rebuilding is an asset.
  • Experience with transmission or hydraulics testing is an asset.
  • Experience with Lawson, SIS, and warranty systems is an asset.
  • Power systems experience dual ticket is an asset.

Overview

Company: Finning Canada Number of Openings: 2 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Service Supervisor, the Journeyman Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar equipment and other manufacturer engines as well.

Specific Skills & Experience
  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification

  • Dedication to safety
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits
  • Wage: $56.89 - $63.21 / hour
  • 14x14 Continuous Shift Rotation
  • Job will be based in Yellowknife, NT at the Jackfish power plant.
  • Travel to other NTPC sites may be required
  • housing will be supplied
