Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a Resident Heavy Duty Mechanic in the Medicine Hat area to perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on Caterpillar equipment. You will interact with customers and internal teams, utilize CAT SIS/ET daily, and complete detailed reports.

The role requires Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification, a valid driver’s license, and a minimum of 5 years of CAT repair experience. Monday–Friday daytime shift with potential for future shift changes.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a current clean abstract.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience repairing CAT equipment.
  • Self-motivated, safety conscious team player with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Finning systems and related tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on Caterpillar and other mechanical equipment.
  • Interact with customers, product and sales teams, and the Finning team.
  • Utilize CAT SIS and ET daily for service tasks.
  • Complete technical documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate with the Service Supervisor on various tasks.

Job Description: Major Job Functions
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on Caterpillar and other mechanical equipment.
  • Interact with customers, product and sales support, and the rest of the Finning team.
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily.
  • Complete technical documentation and reports.
  • Work with the Service Supervisor on various tasks.
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification
  • Valid driver's license with a successful recent driver's abstract
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion, or in the process of completing all Finning S-level courses
  • Self-motivated and computer literate
  • Experience with Costwatcher, DBS, SIS and Warranty Systems as well as a good understanding of Finning systems, would all be assets
  • Successful candidate will need to be customer orientated and motivated to meet the customer's expectations
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience repairing CAT equipment

Note: This position will work a Monday to Friday day shift. Shift work may be required in the future. Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement. Hours and shift schedules that may be subject to change to meet Finning or customer requirements, and will be made in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Please be advised, the successful candidate for this position will reside in the Medicine Hat area.
