Job summary

Finning is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Alberta Mobile Team, supporting customers across Alberta and the Northwest Territories. You will diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment in field settings, ensuring uptime and safety.

You will perform preventative maintenance, document service activities, and work with the Finning team to deliver high-quality service. Training opportunities and premiums are available within a strong union environment.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial HET certification required.
• 3+ years demonstrated field truck experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to participate in additional training and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Field diagnosis and running repairs of Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of equipment.
• Respond promptly to customer needs and document service activities.

Job Description:

Take on a role where your skills and passion keep equipment moving. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic with the Alberta Mobile Team, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Equipment.

Your work will include:

• Field diagnosis and running repairs of Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment, in field environment (possibility of remote locations)
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team

Qualifications:

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification(On-Road & Off Road)
• Dual Tickets will be an asset
• 3+ years demonstrated experience in a Field Truck
• Valid driver’s license with a successful recent driver abstract
• Previous Caterpillar experience is an asset
• Willingness to participate and complete additional training
• Self-motivated, computer literate, and safety orientated with the ability to work under minimal supervision

• This role supports our customers throughout Alberta and NWT
• Shift is 14 x 14 or 7 x 7
• A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, Fitness testing) and wear a respiratorwhere applicable
