Job summary

Dexterra Group, located in York, Ontario, is seeking a Part-time Cleaner for transit stations. You will maintain clean, safe spaces across entrances, concourses, platforms and washrooms during a night shift. The role offers 16 hours per week with a 10:30 PM–6:30 AM schedule.

We value strong English communication, attention to detail and reliability. Cleaning experience is an asset; you may lift up to 25 lbs and work in a public-facing environment.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset (minimum 6 months preferred).
• Floor care experience (machine scrubbing and detailing) is an asset.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks; criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and disinfecting station areas including entrances, concourses, platforms, and washrooms.
• Sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, and high-touch surface cleaning.
• Replenishing washroom supplies and completing required checks/inspections.
• Using auto-scrubber and auto-sweeper as needed.
• Reporting issues to supervisor and assisting with deep-clean tasks.
• Garbage collection and litter pickup.

As a Part -time Cleaner (Transit Stations), you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across public transit stations to the highest standard.

POSTING DETAILS (Mandatory Information)

Location:85 Industry St, York, ON M6M 4L5

Job Classification: Part -Time Cleaner

Rate of Pay:$20.90/hour (as per Collective Agreement)

Hours of Work: 16 hours per week (before breaks)

Shift: Night 10:30 PM-6:30 AM

Number of Positions: 8 Employees

Your work will include

• Cleaning and disinfecting station areas including entrances, concourses, platforms, and washrooms
• Sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, and high-touch surface cleaning (doors, railings, elevator, faregates/TVMs)
• Replenishing washroom supplies (toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap) and completing required checks/inspections.
• Using auto-scrubber and auto-sweeper as needed.
• Prioritized work order completion and reporting to quality assurance.
• Reporting issues such as graffiti, damage, hazards, or cleanliness concerns as required, and then removing it on approval by Supervisor.
• Performing periodic deep-cleaning tasks such as machine scrubbing floors and detailing surfaces (as assigned)
• Garbage collection and liner changing and interior and exterior litter pickup

1. Position will be filled based on skill, ability and seniority(for internal employees).

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking) – mandatory
• Cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset (minimum 6 months preferred)
• Floor care experience is an asset (machine scrubbing and detailing)
• Comfortable standing/walking for extended periods in a public-facing environment
• Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
• Able to communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, and the general public
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, pushing/pulling equipment)
• A clear criminal background check is required for this role
