Job Skills / Requirements

This position is located at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, NS

Shift Supervisors are responsible for the direction and training of their staff during the day-to-day operations of the Healthcare Security team at their site.

Communication is a key function of the Shift Supervisor, as they are an extension of the Site Supervisor and Management team.

Responsibilities of Shift Supervisors include:

• Directing employees to perform to the standards of Paladin's policies and procedures.
• Ensuring employees have and retain knowledge of the site operations.
• Ensuring their team is made aware of and understands any Paladin issued memo/announcement.
• Ensuring contractual obligations are met, such as no time loss on site. Addressing lateness, absences, and covering shifts as needed.
• Responding to all emergencies and taking command of the situation.
• Ensuring the health and safety of staff by training on Paladin's Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and reporting incidents during their shift.
• Handling disciplinary issues, including meetings and paperwork. Severe infractions will involve collaboration with Management and Human Resources.

Additional duties include checking emails, being on call for emergencies, coordinating with the Site Supervisor, assisting with scheduling, facilitating shift change briefings, maintaining cleanliness of the Security Office, and ensuring completion of daily paperwork such as sign-in sheets and incident reports.

The ideal candidate is proactive, attentive to details, supportive of their team, and takes initiative to ensure smooth site operations.

Education and Certification Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
