Job summary

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre in rural Ontario seeks a Human Resources Officer to implement HR objectives and strategies in collaboration with department managers. You will provide SME support in recruitment, performance management, immigration processes, succession planning, education and training, health and safety, labour relations, and dispute resolution.

The ideal candidate holds a post-secondary diploma/degree in HR, IR, or BA; CHRP is a strong asset, with 2+ years in HR, and

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations and/or Business Administration required.
• CHRP designation considered a strong asset.
• Two years of working experience in an HR department preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates with healthcare and/or unionized experience.
• Functional knowledge of HR applications including talent acquisition, recruitment, interviews, employee engagement, policy development, performance evaluations, investigations and discipline.
• Strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Responsibilities

• Supports recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding across departments.
• Provides day-to-day HR support and SME to department managers.
• Contributes to performance management and succession planning processes.
• Assists with interpretation and communication of Collective Agreements and grievance handling.
• Coordinates full-cycle recruitment activities including postings, screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding.
• Advises managers on HR policies, legislation, and workplace practices.
• Ensures compliance with organizational policies and collective agreements in attendance, discipline, and performance.
