Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking an EH&S Coordinator to support, implement and maintain occupational health and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, risk management and continuous safety improvements across operations.

The successful candidate will lead incident investigations, support audits, deliver training, and coordinate safety activities with the team, while maintaining essential safety documentation and records in Velocity.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years in manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Experience in metal fabrication, assembly, or mechanical manufacturing is an asset
  • Proven incident investigation and safety program implementation experience

Responsibilities

  • Support, implement and maintain health and safety programs
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S legislation and company policies
  • Lead and support safety audits, inspections and investigations
  • Manage incident reporting, root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk controls in manufacturing
  • Deliver safety training and coordinate JHSC activities

As a EH&S Coordinator you will be responsible for supporting, implementing, and maintaining occupational health and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. Also ensure compliance with applicable legislation, promote a strong safety culture, and help prevent workplace incidents through proactive risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)
  • Compliance & Regulatory Management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety legislation and company policies
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory updates and implement required changes
  • Support internal and external safety audits and inspections
  • Prepare and maintain required safety documentation and records
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting
  • Lead and support workplace incident, near-miss, and hazard investigations
  • Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions
  • Complete and submit required regulatory reports in a timely manner
  • Track incident trends and recommend improvement actions
  • Maintain accurate data information in internal incident tracking platform-Velocity
  • Provide support to team with managing Velocity application
  • Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
  • Conduct workplace inspections and hazard assessments
  • Identify risks in manufacturing processes, equipment, and work practices
  • Support implementation of engineering, administrative, and PPE controls
  • Review and update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Safe Work Procedures
  • Training & Employee Engagement
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training (e.g., onboarding, WHMIS, PPE, emergency response)
  • Organize and Coordinate JHSC meetings.
  • Support joint health and safety committee (JHSC) activities
  • Promote safety awareness and continuous improvement in culture
  • Assist supervisors in reinforcing safe work practices
  • Program Development & Continuous Improvement
  • Support development and maintenance of health and safety programs
  • Participate in ergonomic assessments and injury prevention initiatives
  • Assist in emergency preparedness planning and drills
  • Recommend improvements to safety systems and manufacturing processes
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
Required Experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience in metal fabrication, assembly, or mechanical manufacturing is an asset
  • Proven experience in incident investigation and safety program implementation
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Excellent communication and training delivery skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
Education & Certifications
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • CRSP or equivalent certification (preferred or in progress)
  • First Aid/CPR certification (asset)
Travel & Working Environment
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and production activity
  • Requirement to wear appropriate PPE at all times
  • Occasional off-shift work or flexibility required for incident response or audits
