Job summary

Senior Helpers of Vancouver is seeking a Health Care Assistant (Registered Care Aide) to provide in-home care to seniors with compassion and professionalism. You will support daily living activities, mobility, meals, and emotional well-being while maintaining a safe home environment.

Applicants must be registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry, have completed an HCA program, and possess at least 1 year of relevant experience, plus the required health and background

Qualifications

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Assist with instrumental ADLs (light housekeeping, meal preparation).
• Monitor and report changes in the client’s condition to the healthcare team.
• Provide assistance with mobility and safe transfers.
• Support patients with eating and dietary requirements.
• Assist with medication reminders and administration under supervision.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families

Qualifications

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Requirements

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting( minimum 1 year)
• Negative TB testcompleted in the past 90 days
• A negativeCriminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
• Certification in CPR and First Aid( preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
