Job summary

METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking a Head of Development to lead North American renewables growth, focusing on Canada and the USA, via acquisitions and greenfield development. The role oversees project development from origination to construction, managing two verticals: Business Development and Project Development.

You will build strategic relationships with bankers, developers, and stakeholders, lead due diligence, financing, and transaction execution, and shape the greenfield strategy while

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in the power/renewables sector with senior management exposure.
• Experience in acquisition due diligence and interfacing with internal SMEs.
• Deep knowledge of NA renewable energy markets and project development.

Responsibilities

• Grow NA renewables portfolio via acquisitions and greenfielding to construction.
• Lead two development teams: Business Development and Project Development.
• Originate opportunities by networking with bankers, advisors, developers and stakeholders.
• Lead deal processes: bid submissions, structuring, valuation, due diligence, financing.
• Prepare investment materials and present to senior leadership and risk committee.
• Develop and execute greenfield strategy to expand pipeline.
• Ensure on-schedule preconstruction activities and budget control.
• Guide negotiations with developers, lenders, and government bodies.
• Maintain stakeholder relations with government, communities, investors.
• Collaborate on technical, financial, and tax assumptions with teams.
• Participate in handoffs from BD to PD and PD to EPC.
• Support project financing with due diligence and required documents.
• Develop insights on local renewable markets, regulations, and players.
