Job summary

Mowi Canada East Inc. is seeking a Hatchery Technician to join our Freshwater team at the Northampton hatchery, NB.

The role requires living in on-site accommodations for an 8-day shift and performing duties such as feeding, grading/counting, and health monitoring while maintaining safety and biosecurity. The ideal candidate will have safety awareness, basic education or industry experience, strong English communication, and the ability to work in a team environment.

We are seeking aHatchery Technicianto join the camp based shift on the Freshwater team at Mowi Canada East Inc. at our Hatchery inNorthampton, NB. Looking for a something new and exciting where you can grow your career, this is your opportunity!

ABOUT THE JOB

In the Hatchery Technician role you will live in our onsite accommodations for the duration of your 8 day shift and experience all the duties of a Hatchery Technician including, feeding, grading/counting or measuring fish, mortality removal, site security, maintenance, clean up, reporting, record keeping, document management, monitoring fish behaviour, appearance and health while ensuring safety and biosecurity measures are being followed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate would be safety oriented and forward-thinking with a passion for the industry. They would have:

  • Related post-secondary education and/or experience within the industry is considered an asset
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices and animal welfare
  • Well-developed English verbal and written communication
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and participate in training opportunities
  • Good computer skills and ability to enter/review data
  • Ability to live and work on site in company accommodations for a shift of 8 days on, 6 days off
  • Physical capability to lift and handle up to 25kg of material complete repetitive physical tasks
  • A positive attitude and desire to work in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to work safely and effectively indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the job as needed
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada
