Job summary

EDealer in Canada seeks a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead one engineering team. You will split time between mentoring seven to eight engineers and contributing production code, shaping architecture, and improving the platform.

You will coach, review, and hire while partnering with Product to plan work and deliver reliable software. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on in production backend systems and leadership.
• Experience leading a team of six or more engineers is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on engineering about half the time: write and review production code.
• Review PRs with depth and speed and set high review standards.
• Own technical debt, refactors, tests, and cleanup.
• Improve platform performance, CI, observability, and dev experience.
• Contribute to design and technical planning; prototype when needed.
• Lead and coach engineers through regular feedback and growth plans.
• Own production support and incident follow-through for your area.
