E INC in Canada seeks a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead a senior engineering team of seven to eight engineers. You will write and review production code, prototype designs, and improve the platform while balancing leadership duties with technical contribution.

The role emphasizes coaching, performance management, and collaboration with Product Managers. A strong background in Java/Spring Boot and SQL is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience building and operating complex backend systems.
• Demonstrated people-management experience with ownership of performance and hiring.
• Deep experience with Java and Spring Boot; strong SQL skills.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on engineering, approximately half your time: ship production code and review PRs.
• Own technical debt, including refactors, upgrades, and test coverage.
• Improve platform, CI, observability, and local development experience.
