Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) seeks a Department Supervisor to manage a retail unit serving CAF members and families. You will plan layouts, stock shelves, supervise staff and ensure outstanding customer service while coordinating with suppliers and handling daily operations.

You will operate POS systems, maintain inventory accuracy and may support miscellaneous services like dry cleaning, lottery, and postal operations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to arrange visually appealing product displays and maintain stock levels.
  • Experience handling cash transactions accurately and securely.
  • Strong administrative skills to support staff and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan department layout, shelf arrangements and displays; place orders to keep stock at appropriate levels.
  • Verify inventory integrity; prepare purchase orders and engage with suppliers.
  • Supervise staff, address customer concerns and ensure a high level of service.
  • Operate POS systems, manage cash float and related transactions.

THE ROLE

As a Department Supervisor, you provide retail services to a unique client base – members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and in assisting them, you are helping your community. You plan the department’s layout, shelf arrangement, signs, and displays all while ordering merchandise to ensure shelves are well stocked and meet customer requirements. You verify the integrity of inventory on a regular basis, prepare purchase orders and deal with suppliers and vendors. You supervise employees and deal with customer concerns or complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.

The Department Supervisor may also provide a variety of other retail services, including regular retail services, dry cleaning, lottery services, self‑serve gas services, and postal services. You will operate Point of Sales systems, the debit/credit machine, and maintain a float. You may take and prepare food and beverage orders and prepare takeout food, while ensuring cleanliness of food service and eating areas.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience

Food Handling Certification, as required

Experience

In visual merchandising

In cash handling

In personnel administration

In food and beverage preparation, as required In food and beverage service, as required

This is an on‑site position with an assigned work location.
