Safeway in Langley, BC is hiring All Purpose Clerks to provide helpful service and maintain a well-stocked store. Full training is provided for this position. You will greet customers, handle transactions, stock shelves, and support inventory while following Safeway programs.

Ideal candidates are customer-focused, reliable, and flexible for evenings and weekends. No previous experience required; learning on the job and growth within the team are encouraged.

As a customer yourself, you know how important helpful service is. The impression shoppers get at thefront end of the store is key to building customer loyalty. So too is maintaining a well-stocked store (forboth the Grocery and Produce sections) so that the customer shopping experience is quick, easy andefficient. That is why our All Purpose Clerks play such an important role in the success of our stores. Fulltraining is provided for this position.

Experience

• No previous experienced required

Key Responsibilities

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway's programs
• Process cash register payments by cash, cheque, credit card, gift card and debit
• Wrap and place merchandise in bags / carts
• Maintain cleanliness of check stands
• Stocking product to shelves such as Dairy, Frozen, perishable (produce) and non-perishables
• Maintaining and building merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
• Rotation of product
• Loading and unloading of product for the sales floor
• Backroom and inventory management
• Any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Physical Requirements

• 66-100% of shift)
• Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds
• Constant reaching, gripping
• Constant computer and point of sale system use
• Frequent bending, walking, standing, twisting, pushing or pulling
• Occasional lifting or carrying of up to 20-50 pounds including waist level and low level lifts
• Occasional crouching, kneeling, squatting
