Job summary

Safeway in Vancouver is hiring All Purpose Clerks to provide friendly customer service and support across Grocery and Produce sections. Training is provided to help you learn quickly and contribute to a fast-paced team environment.

You will handle transactions, stock shelves, maintain cleanliness, and participate in backroom and inventory tasks while building strong customer relationships. Evening and weekend availability is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Process payments via cash, cheque, credit card, gift card and debit.
• Stock and rotate merchandise across Dairy, Frozen, Produce and general shelves.
• Keep check stands clean and organized; assist with backroom/inventory tasks.
• Maintain attractive merchandise displays and correct signage.
• Support store managers with daily duties and special assignments.

As a customer yourself, you know how important helpful service is. The impression shoppers get at thefront end of the store is key to building customer loyalty. So too is maintaining a well-stocked store (forboth the Grocery and Produce sections) so that the customer shopping experience is quick, easy andefficient. That is why our All Purpose Clerks play such an important role in the success of our stores. Fulltraining is provided for this position.

Experience

• No previous experienced required

Key Responsibilities

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
• Process cash register payments by cash, cheque, credit card, gift card and debit
• Wrap and place merchandise in bags / carts
• Maintain cleanliness of check stands
• Stocking product to shelves such as Dairy, Frozen, perishable (produce) and non-perishables
• Maintaining and building merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
• Rotation of product
• Loading and unloading of product for the sales floor
• Backroom and inventory management
• Any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager
