Qualifications

  • Ability to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador starting January 2026.
  • Legally entitled to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Completed at least a one-year program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Not currently enrolled as a full-time student.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Assist in automating development and operational workflows.
  • Contribute to cloud configuration and provisioning under guidance.
  • Help build monitoring dashboards and alerts.
  • Participate in basic troubleshooting activities.

Take your career to the next level! Genoa is looking for a DevOps Junior Developer to join our Digital Products & Services team.

As a DevOps Junior Developer, you will learn to support and automate the systems, pipelines, and workflows that enable reliable and efficient software delivery across the organization. This role is designed for someone early in their career with a strong interest in cloud platforms, automation, scripting, CI/CD, and DevOps methodologies.

This new position is funded through the Graduate Transition Initiative, delivered by techNL and the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development. The initiative provides support to eligible companies that hire recent graduates into software development and tech sales roles, providing meaningful early‑career experience while supporting long-term growth in Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector.

The Responsibilities

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our DevOps and cloud operations while growing your technical skillset. You will:

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Assist in automating development and operational workflows.
  • Contribute to cloud configuration and provisioning under guidance.
  • Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Help build monitoring dashboards, alerts, and logging solutions.
  • Assist with containerized application deployments.
  • Participate in basic troubleshooting activities.
  • Support environment stability across development and testing systems.
  • Learn DevSecOps practices and support security scanning activities.
  • Contribute to documentation and operational guides.
  • Take on additional duties as required.
About you

To be eligible for the Graduate Transition Initiative, the successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to work full‑time in Newfoundland and Labrador starting January 2026.
  • Legally entitled to work full‑time in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Completed, within the last two years, at least a one‑year program at a recognized post‑secondary institution or workforce/skills training provider in Newfoundland and Labrador (e.g., Memorial University, College of the North Atlantic, Keyin College, Get Building, or other provincially recognized programs).
  • Not currently enrolled as a full‑time student.

Further to eligibility requirements, we are seeking a candidate who has:

  • Education in Software Development, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A basic understanding of software development and cloud concepts.
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Previous exposure to version control (Git).
  • An interest in CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and DevOps tools.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
