Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Technician to join the Field Services – Major Projects team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This full‑time role offers hands‑on exposure to complex geotechnical field programs and major infrastructure projects in the Oil Sands region.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma in Geotechnical/Construction/Civil Engineering Technology and at least 3 years of relevant field experience, including drilling and instrumentation installation.

Qualifications

• Geotechnical diploma or similar technical credential.
• Minimum 3 years geotechnical or field services experience.
• Hands-on drilling and instrumentation installation experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety by enforcing site HSE policies.
• Monitor drilling programs, instrument installations, core sample recovery.
• Classify samples and perform field testing of soils and bedrock.
• Install and maintain geotechnical instrumentation for slope and foundation studies.
• Collect readings from inclinometers and other instruments.
• Document construction monitoring activities and inspections.
• Compile field data and communicate findings clearly.
