Job summary

Stella-Jones is seeking a General Worker Yard in Canada to support material handling and production activities in a fast-paced yard environment. The role involves operating hoists, forklifts, trains, and other equipment while ensuring material supply aligns with priorities and production schedules.

You will participate in inventory, labeling, scanning, and daily timekeeping, with opportunities to become a Yardman. A strong safety focus and adherence to procedures are essential.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate hoists and other lifting tools, forklifts, trains, shunt trucks, tractors and gantry cranes per training.
• Ensure the supply of raw materials for equipment according to priorities.
• Identify materials received using office labels.
• Receive and compare bills of lading with materials received.
• Communicate with team leader by radio.
• Participate in inventory and production activities as needed.
• Move machines and transport production waste to intended locations.
• Scan jobs with the in-house tape scanning device.
• Meet production objectives and pace of work.
• Fill out timesheets daily and maintain workspace 5S.
• Assist with snow removal when required.
• Cover for the team leader during absence.
• Comply with ISO, OHS, DMS, LEAN procedures.
• Perform tasks related to abilities as directed by supervision.

General worker Yard

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm

Salary: 22.26$ per hour

• Possibility of becoming a Yardman

RESPONSIBILITY

• Safely operate hoists and other lifting tools as well as forklifts, trains, shunt trucks, tractors and gantry cranes (Renner) in accordance with the training received in the company.
• Ensure the supply of raw materials for equipment according to established priorities.
• Identify the material received using labels provided by the office.
• Receive bills of lading for materials.
• Compare the bill of lading with the materials received (size, quantity, grade, etc.).
• Communicate, using a radio, with your team leader in the yard.
• Participate in taking inventory.
• Participate in manufacturing activities (T/A, secondary operation, etc.) when requested by the superior.
• Free the machines from production waste and transport them to the intended location.
• Scan jobs using the in-house tape scanning device.
• Meet the production objectives and the pace of work requested.
• Fill out timesheets daily.
• Ensure proper maintenance of your work area and maintain the 5S
• Participate, if necessary, in the snow removal of the yard.
• Replace the team leader during his or her absence, as required.
• Comply at all times with the various procedures and policies put in place by the organization (ISO, OHS, DMS, LEAN).
• Perform any tasks related to or in accordance with his/her abilities at the request of his/her supervisor or team leader.
