Job summary

Central Ontario FS, a division of GROWMARK, invites applications for an on-site general labour role in Central Ontario. The position involves operating equipment, loading and unloading goods, and preparing shipments, with duties including fertilizer blending and grain handling.

A valid license and safety mindset are required; DZ is a plus. We offer benefits and opportunities to grow within the agricultural business, with seasonal overtime in spring and fall.

Qualifications

• A general knowledge and skills required to safely operate straightforward plant equipment and/or machinery.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean record; DZ license is an asset.
• Ability to lift 55lbs and operate skid steer or similar equipment.
• Ability to read maps and bills of ladings and follow delivery directions; basic writing for logs.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Operate straightforward equipment and/or machinery and complete general labour duties.
• Load and unload containers, materials and products on trucks, or trailers by hand or by forklift truck.
• Transfer goods, organize the products received and prepare goods for shipment.
• Blend fertilizer.
• You may receive grain, and grade by sampling, testing, and weighing the product to ensure quality aligns with GROWMARK’s standards.
• Remove snow in winter months.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• A general knowledge and skills required to safely operate straightforward plant equipment, and/or machinery.
• A valid driver’s license, with a clean record. DZ license is an asset.
• Ability to lift 55lbs.
• Ability to operate skid steer, loader, and/or bob cat.
• Ability to read maps, bills of ladings, follow specific delivery directions and instructions, follow posted safety rules and safe operating procedures to ensure proper techniques are performed; write and make accurate entries in daily driving log, comprehend simple instructions.
• Conversational English skills.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
