Job summary

John Ross & Sons Ltd. in Halifax, NS, is seeking a general laborer to join our scrap metal recycling team. You will load, unload, move materials, sort for shipping, and assist operators, all while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50lbs consistently.
• Previous experience in heavy lifting/general labor is an asset.

• Safety-driven mindset with clear communication.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or with basic equipment.
• Sort and prepare products for shipping or storage.
• Assist machine operators and other production staff as needed.
• Accurately label and tag products
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Upkeeping safety procedures
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management
• Other labor duties as necessary

John Ross & Sons Ltd. specializes in purchasing and processing all ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, along with accepting a wide range of recyclable material to process.

We are currently seeking an energetic and safety minded general laborer to join our team.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or with basic equipment
• Sort and prepare products for shipping or storage
• Assist machine operators and other production staff as needed.
• Accurately label and tag products
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Upkeeping safety procedures
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management
• Other labor duties as necessary
