Job summary

John Ross & Sons Ltd. is seeking an energetic general laborer to join our team in Nova Scotia. This full-time, permanent role involves loading, unloading, sorting, labeling, and maintaining a safe work area, with emphasis on safety and adherence to procedures.

You must be able to lift 50 lbs, work in all weather, and wear full PPE. The shift runs Monday to Friday 6:50 AM to 5:00 PM, with every second Saturday, and pay is 19.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience with painting is an asset.
• Heavy lifting/general labor experience is an asset.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently.
• Comfortable wearing full PPE during shift.
• Safety-driven mindset.
• Clear communication skills.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or with basic equipment.
• Sort and prepare products for shipping or storage.
• Assist machine operators and other production staff as needed.
• Accurately label and tag products.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
• Upholding safety procedures.
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management.
• Other labor duties as necessary.

John Ross & Sons Ltd. specializes in purchasing and processing all ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, along with accepting a wide range of recyclable material to process.

We are currently seeking an energetic and safety minded general laborer to join our team.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or with basic equipment
• Sort and prepare products for shipping or storage
• Assist machine operators and other production staff as needed.
• Accurately label and tag products
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Upkeeping safety procedures
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management
• Other labor duties as necessary
