Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Barista to prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and related items to customers at our coffee bar. You will welcome customers, educate them on the menu, and prepare beverages following standardized recipes. You will also maintain inventory, uphold equipment, and ensure a safe, clean environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Previous work experience as a Barista is an asset.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs.
• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions.
• Prepare coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino.
• Sell coffee and equipment by explaining differences in beans and machines; demonstrate brewing equipment.
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking equipment; maintaining pastries and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keep equipment operating by following instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and sanitation regulations.
• Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes; improving store and coffee bar appearance.
