Job summary

GEF Seniors Housing is seeking a part-time kitchen staff member at Kiwanis Place Lodge in Edmonton, AB. The role covers early morning shifts (6AM–2PM) on a 3-week rotating schedule, involving food prep, cooking and meal service for residents.

The successful candidate will have strong English communication skills and prior food prep or dining room/server experience is preferred. Benefits include medical/dental coverage and paid training.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
• Experience in food preparation and baking is an asset.
• Experience as a server in a dining room is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation, cooking, baking, portioning and labeling food.
• Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment.
• Dishwashing.
• Preparing meals, beverages, sandwiches, salads and snacks.
• Peeling and chopping vegetables.
• Assisting with meal services and beverages.
• Other site-specific duties as assigned.

Details: Part time, Days, 30 hours per week, 6AM to 2PM, 3-week rotating schedule

Schedule:

Week 1 : Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Thursday

Week 2 : Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Week 3 : Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday

Pay Scale: $19.62 - $23.79 per hour

Location: Kiwanis Place Lodge, 10330-120 Street, Edmonton AB, T5K 2A6

Typical Duties:Food preparation, cooking, baking, portioning and labeling food, cleaning kitchen areas and equipment, dishwashing, preparing meals, beverages, sandwiches, salads and snacks, peeling and chopping vegetables, assisting with meal services and beverages, and other site-specific duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Preferences:

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal are required
• Experience in food preparation and baking is an asset
• Experience as a server in a dining room is preferred

Other Requirements:

• Strong customer service skills, including the ability to interact with everyone in a respectful manner
• Ability to read and follow standard recipes and work in a sanitary manner
• Ability to demonstrate responsible judgement in problem solving
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
