GEF Seniors Housing in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a Second Cook for our central kitchen. You will prepare entrees, oversee food storage, and ensure meal presentation and service meet our standards.

Reporting to the Site Leader - Food Services, you will assist with ordering, inventory, scheduling, and staff supervision when needed. The role is full-time, days, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, on a 3-week rotating schedule, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with cooking and baking in a commercial kitchen setting.
• Experience supervising kitchen and dining room staff is preferred.
• Intermediary computer skills and knowledge including use of Microsoft Office are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook main entrees in a commercial kitchen.
• Handle food storage, meal presentation, service, and kitchen cleanup.
• Assist Site Leader - Food Services with ordering, receiving, inventory and staff scheduling.
• Supervise kitchen and dining room staff in the absence of the Site Leader.

Details:

Full time, Days, 37.50 hours per week, 9:30AM to 5:30PM, 3-week rotating schedule

Pay Scale:

$24.82 - $28.09 per hour

Location:

At any of our GEF lodge locations.

Typical Duties:

Reporting directly to the Site leader - Food Services (Chef), the Second Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking main entrees, food storage, meal presentation, meal service and cleaning the kitchen areas and equipment. The Second Cookassists the Site Leader - Food Services (Chef) with kitchen administrative duties such as ordering, receiving, inventory and staff scheduling, including staff supervision in the absence of the Site Leader - Food Services (Chef) and any site-specific duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Preferences:

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal is required
• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• Minimum 2 years of experience with cooking and baking in a commercial kitchen setting is required
