GEF Seniors Housing is the largest provider of affordable housing for low to moderate income seniors in Alberta. The Second Cook will handle food preparation, cooking main entrees, meal presentation, and service, while assisting the Site Leader - Food Services with inventory, ordering, and staff scheduling.

This full-time day role offers a 3-week rotating schedule, 9:30AM–5:30PM, with benefits including medical and dental coverage, pension, and paid training.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with cooking and baking in a commercial kitchen setting is required.
• Experience supervising kitchen and dining room staff is preferred.
• Intermediary Computer skills and knowledge including use of Microsoft Office are required.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Site leader - Food Services (Chef).
• Second Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking main entrees, and meal presentation.
• Assists with kitchen administrative duties such as ordering, receiving, inventory and staff scheduling.
• Supervise staff in the absence of the Site Leader - Food Services (Chef).
• Handle site-specific duties as assigned.

Details: Full time, Days, 37.50 hours per week, 9:30AM to 5:30PM, 3-week rotating schedule

Pay Scale: $24.82 - $28.09 per hourLocation: At any of our GEF lodge locations.

Typical Duties: Reporting directly to the Site leader - Food Services (Chef), the Second Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking main entrees, food storage, meal presentation, meal service and cleaning the kitchen areas and equipment. The Second Cookassists the Site Leader - Food Services (Chef) with kitchen administrative duties such as ordering, receiving, inventory and staff scheduling, including staff supervision in the absence of the Site Leader - Food Services (Chef) and any site-specific duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Preferences:
